 Introduction to investment casting
It is generally used for small castings are made from almost any metal, especially stainless steel.
This process generally more expensive per unit than die casting or sand casting but with lower tooling cost. It can produce complicated shapes that would be difficult or impossible by normal manufacturing techniques. Parts made with investment castings often do not require any further machining, because of the close tolerances that can be achieved.
The advantages of lost wax casting are:
  Excellent surface finish
  High dimensional accuracy
  Extremely intricate parts are castable
Almost any metal can be cast
  No flash or parting lines
